Dodik and Cvijanović Went to See the Works in the University Campus

On 1 October 2022, Serbian Member of BH Presidency Milorad Dodik and President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović, hosted by Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, visited the construction works in the University Campus.

This was an opportunity for Dodik and Cvijanović to see the works on the building of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry, as well as the facilities where building insulation is installed through the energy efficiency project of the buildings, namely the building of the Rectorate/Academy of Arts and the Faculty of Philosophy.

Serbian Member of BH Presidency Milorad Dodik said that raising the level and standard of higher education is very important for the institutions of the Republic of Srpska.

He said that the institutions are constantly improving the conditions for students to study, the conditions for their accommodation, etc. He also said that it is an excellent idea to build new facilities for the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics and other faculties currently located outside the University Campus in the area of the University Campus.

,,Finally, everything will be completed with the construction of the Medical Secondary School and the Faculty of Medicine, incorporated into the University Clinical Centre, on the current location of the University Clinical Centre“, Dodik said, stressing that the preschool education centre will be constructed in the forthcoming period.

President of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović said that the aim of constructing new and reconstructing the existing faculty facilities of the University of Banja Luka is to create the best possible conditions for the study and work of the teaching staff.
Cvijanović also said that students get all kinds of facilities year after year, so it can be said that the Republic of Srpska has the lowest costs of studying in the region. She concluded that the University Campus in Banja Luka is a beautiful and well-organized complex intended for students and teachers that can rarely be found anywhere in Europe.

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, thanked the Serbian Member of BH Presidency and the President of the Republic of Srpska, as well as the ministers in the Government of the Republic of Srpska, for their selfless support in completing all the construction works within the University Campus.

,,The works are in the final phase, so we expect the students of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry will be able to enter the new facility already in spring,” Rector Gajanin emphasized and stated that more than seven million convertible marks had been allocated for the construction of the building to which these two faculties will move.

Gajanin reminded that in the past period, the building in which the Rectorate and the Academy of Arts are located was reconstructed through an energy efficiency project supported by the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, and that insulation is being installed on the Faculty of Philosophy building, as well as on the facility used by the Centre for Support of Students with Disabilities.

,,In addition to the reconstruction of the carpentry and facade, and other works introduced through this project, it is important to emphasize that the complete roof structure on the building of the Rectorate/Academy of Arts was also reconstructed, which made this building a better working place for employees, and a better place for education for the students of the Academy of Arts¬¬¬,” the rector said.

The representative of the University of Banja Luka Students’ Parliament, Nikola Bojić, stated that the support that students and the youth in the Republic of Srpska receive from the authorities is very significant. As Bojić stated, the new building of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry will greatly facilitate the study of all students studying at these two faculties.

President of the Republic of Srpska Students’ Union, Uroš Bjelica, said that the leadership and institutions of the Republic of Srpska recognize the importance of students, as evidenced by the fact that this year several million convertible marks were allocated for both public universities. As Bjelica stated, all capital investments in public universities in the Republic of Srpska contribute to the universities being as good as possible, and to their indices being carried by as many prospective students as possible in the forthcoming period.

This event was also attended by Minister for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology Srebrenka Golić, Minister of Finance Zora Vidović, Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society Srđan Rajčević, MSc, Assistant to the Minister for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology Miloš Jokić, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy Prof. Saša Čvoro, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Prof. Marijana Kapović Solomun, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Srđan Dušanić, PhD, Dean of the Academy of Arts Prof. Dragana Purković Macan, MA, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research Prof. Miroslav Malinović, PhD, Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, General Secretary of the University Đorđe Markez, MA, and Financial Director Duško Lazić. Among those present was the President of the Students’ Parliament of the University of East Sarajevo Stefan Slijepčević and the Vice-President of the Students’ Union of the Republic of Srpska, Vladan Gačić.
