The KARAVAN exhibition took place in Trebinje
NewsNews and informationAs part of our efforts to empower the next generation of cultural heritage professionals through the #CultHeRit project, we are proud to inform you that a student-led exhibition was held at the Museum of Herzegovina on March 25, 2026. Developed entirely by students under the mentorship of Prof. Milijana Okilj, co-guided by Assis. Prof. Jasna Guzijan, heritage experts, the graduating students enrolled in the obligatory cultural heritage design course, presented their works within the Exhibition of students' projects for the renovation of built structures. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for young participants to take full ownership of the curatorial process — from concept development and content selection to storytelling and exhibition design.
The exhibition showcased students’ interpretations of cultural heritage in Peter and Paul Monastery and the Monastery of St. George in Brvenik, near Trebinje, both declared cultural assets, demonstrating how younger generations can engage with heritage in innovative, meaningful, and accessible ways. Guided by mentors but driven by student creativity and initiative, the project encourages the development of practical skills in research, curation, communication, and presentation.
This initiative reflects our broader goal of strengthening connections between education, culture, and professional practice, while giving students direct experience in shaping public engagement with heritage. By placing young voices at the center of the process, the exhibition highlights the role of emerging professionals in reimagining how cultural heritage is presented and understood today.
