International projectsNewsNews and information

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ project ''Boosting digital and green skills for a resilient and sustainable Western Balkan society'' – SKILL2SUSTAIN, a training programme for academic staff from higher education institutions across the Western Balkans was successfully conducted from 18 to 22 May 2026 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

Representatives of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Gordana Broćeta, PhD, and Prof. Anđelko Cumbo, PhD, actively participated in all segments of the training programme aimed at strengthening digital and green competencies in higher education.

The training focused on the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the fields of digital and green education, with particular emphasis on the application of circular economy principles in the construction sector, the use of advanced software solutions, and the integration of digital tools into educational and research activities.

Special attention was devoted to the use of One Click LCA, a leading AI-powered cloud platform for calculating, analysing, and reducing the environmental impacts of construction projects. Participants gained practical insights into the platform’s capabilities for life-cycle assessment, embodied carbon analysis, and informed decision-making processes that support more sustainable design and construction practices.

One of the key outcomes of the training will be the preparation of at least one collaborative research paper involving participants from partner institutions. The results of this joint research will be presented at the international conference to be organised within the project framework in September 2026, further strengthening the research, digital, and collaborative competencies of academic staff.

Participation in activities of this kind represents an important contribution to enhancing the capacities of higher education institutions for implementing green and digital transformation processes, while also fostering regional and international cooperation in the fields of sustainable development and innovative education.
