Presenting the Monograph at the Arie Livne Jewish Cultural Center
UNIBLBooksNewsThe monograph ’Religious Buildings of National Minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina’ was presented to the audience at Arie Livne Jewish Cultural Center in Banja Luka on 6 February 2020.
The presentation of the monograph was organized by the Society of Serbian-Jewish Friendship, and at the initiative of the President of the Society, Professor Zoran Pejasinovic.
The monograph was presented on behalf of the publisher by Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and the authors Prof. Ljubisa Preradovic, PhD, Prof. Milijana Okilj, PhD, and Assistant Professor Miroslav Malinovic.
Rector Gajanin talked about the importance of the monograph and the contribution that the authors had made to the research of such an important segment of our society. He particularly emphasized the uniqueness of the multilingual edition, given that all religious buildings of national minorities are described and evaluated not only in Serbian and English, but also in the language of the minority to which they belong.
The monograph was presented to the audience with special reference to the settlement, life and activities of the Jewish community in the territory of present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina. Most attention was given to the presentation of synagogue architecture, most of which have a different purpose nowadays or have been removed.
The University of Banja Luka and the International Association for Semiotic Studies – AIS are publishers of the monograph ’Religious Buildings of National Minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina’.
