The goal | ||||
Introducing students to the development process of the history of medieval art, architecture and settlements, the richness of architectural types, shapes and programs through the most significant architectural achievements. The goal is for students to develop a sense of expression and valorization of architectural heritage, to build a proper relationship with traditions, to understand and notice the lasting connections and logic of construction present in various forms of contemporary architectural creation. The main goal is to acquire knowledge about the development of architecture and settlements during the Middle Ages, as well as to be acquainted with the epochs of art history from the 5th to the 15th century, with accents on the art of early Christianity, Byzantine art, Serbian medieval art, Romanesque and Gothic. In parallel with following the development process of architecture, students are acquainted with the development of art, primarily painting and sculpture of the Middle Ages. | ||||

Acquiring knowledge about architectural and artistic creation in the Middle Ages and connecting experiences from the Ancient times. Acquiring basic knowledge about the emergence and development of architecture in certain social contexts, the laws of formation and types of settlements, spatial organization, structural assemblies and construction techniques, stylistic features and their transformation in accordance with the aesthetic and technical development of social consciousness in the Middle Ages. An integral view of the creations of the Middle Ages through the prism of aesthetics. | ||||

The study of the aesthetics of the Middle Ages with an emphasis on the moral role of works of art. How much and in what way art, with an emphasis on architecture, was in the service of religion.
